1,172 new cases propel Nepal’s COVID-19 caseload to 67,804



KATHMANDU: A total of 1,172 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country in the past 24 hours.

The coronavirus tally has reached 67,804 with the fresh cases, Health Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said on Wednesday afternoon.

He added that the new cases were detected when 9,449 samples were tested in laboratories across the country.

Nepal has carried out 9,44,474  Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests so far.

A total of 17,414 people are currently under isolation. Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 9,186 people are in home isolation and 8,228 in institutional isolation facilities.

Likewise, 7,104 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

According to Dr. Gautam,1,893 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 49,954 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 73.7 percent, he added.

Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said that 73.7 COVID-19 patients in Nepal are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 43 have been put on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 7 persons lost their lives to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours. The total death toll has reached 436 in the country.
