National cricketers’ remuneration to be increased by Rs 10,000



KATHMANDU: The remuneration of Nepali national cricketers has increased by Rs 10,000.

According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the International Cricket Council (ICC) has agreed to increase the players’ salary by Rs 10,000. The players will get the increased salary from 2019.

Earlier, CAN had sent the names of 22 cricketers and video analyst Raman Siwakoti to the ICC for payment of 2019 salaries.

CAN had earlier proposed to increase the salary by Rs 10,000.

Cricketers who played for Nepal in 2017 and 2018 were placed in three categories namely A, B and C.

The ICC had provided a monthly salary of Rs 35,000 for category A, Rs 25,000 for category B and Rs 15,000 for category C players.

Now the monthly salary of ‘A’ category has reached Rs 45,000, ‘B’ category Rs 35,000 and ‘C’ category Rs 25,000. The ICC has started the process of sending the salary to players account.

CAN had signed a one-year contract with all paid cricketers and sent documents to the ICC.

The salary for 2020 will be paid by CAN. For that, CAN has stated that it will sign an agreement with male and female cricketers soon.

Only the players who played in 2019 are in the new category. Earlier, the names of the players in the category have been removed.

According to the category draft, Paras Khadka, Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Bheshavkar, Basanta Regmi, Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airy and Sandeep Lamichhane are in the A category.

Likewise, the names of Karan KC and Binod Bhandari have also been added to the category. Along with this, 9 players have been placed in the category.

Arif Sheikh, Rohit Poudel, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Susan Bhari, Pawan Sarraf, Abhinash Bohara and Sandeep Jora are in the B category.

Similarly, there are 6 people in Category C. Pradip Airy, Raju Rijal, Kushal Bhurtel, Rashid Khan, Ishan Pandey and Kushal Mall are in C category.
