Three killed in Palpa landslide identified



PALPA: Three people who were killed in a landslide at Bandipokhara Sammobari in Tansen Municipality-11 on Monday afternoon have been identified.

The deceased are Bir Bahadur Gurung of Chitwan, Nimesh Shrestha of Hokse-4, Kavre, and Bhuwan Khamcha of Palpa, confirmed DSP Dilli Narayan Pandey, the Spokesperson for Pradesh 5 Traffic Police, Butwal.

Four vehicles were swept away by the landslide at Bandipokhara Sammobari under the Tansen-Ridi road section, according to police.

The bodies of two people were found buried in the landslide and one was rescued and taken to the Mission Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, DSP Madan Giri said.

Preparations were underway to open the road that had been blocked since Monday morning due to continuous rain.

According to eyewitnesses, the landslide swept away the vehicles while an excavator was clearing the mudslide.

A truck, a water tanker, a jeep and a car have been buried in the landslide.
