COVID-19 death toll crosses 96, 000 in USA



KATHMANDU: America has reported 1,356 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 96, 292.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 27, 648 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,620,371 as of Friday morning.

Currently, 1,142, 194 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 17, 902 are critical.  Meanwhile, 381, 885 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 28, 872 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 10, 852 and 6,148 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 213 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 334,069 and infecting 5,189,  091 people as of Friday morning.
