In pics: Mayor Shakya inspects mosques in KMC



KATHMANDU: Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya on Tuesday inspected four mosques located in Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).

The inspection has been made following media reports that physical distancing is not maintained and devotees are hiding at mosques increasing possibility for the spread of novel virus.

KMC began to monitor mosques in its area after 11 devotees who had been staying in a mosque based at Bhulke in Udayapur tested positive for Coronavirus recently.

According to Shakya, no crowd as stated in the media reports was found during the morning nor was there any recitation of holy book Namaz.

Only eight people including religious leaders, cooks, and cleaners were there in two mosques.
