Death toll jumps to 45,279 in US after 2, 765 die in 24 hrs



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 2, 765 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 45,279 as of Wednesday morning.

With 25, 193 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 817, 952 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 689,813 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 14, 016 is critical.  Meanwhile, 82,860 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 19, 693 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 4, 753 and 2, 700 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 177,402 and infecting 2,554,568 people as of Wednesday morning.
