Tourism Ministry chart out strategies to uplift tourism sector

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai, is charting out strategies to restore tourism industry which has been adversely affected by the global pandemic of coronavirus.

In a video conference organized by the Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON), Minister Bhattarai pledged to identify and assess real impact of the crisis on tourism business and come up with new plans and measures to restore it.

The model of relief packages will be determined being based on the findings of the study, according to the Minister.

FNJ wants govt to declare relief package to media sector

The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has asked the government to immediately announce a relief package for working journalists and the media sector hit hard by the ongoing lockdown.

A meeting of the FNJ’s office-bearers and state committees’ office-bearers on Monday also urged the media persons to first prioritize their security in times of reporting during the complex situation that emerged after the outbreak of COVID-19.

COVID-19 impact; US oil prices turn negative

For the first time in history, the price of US oil has turned negative. Demand for oil has all but dried up as lockdowns across the world have kept people inside.

This is the major reason for the prices of oil to turn negative. As a result, oil firms have resorted to renting tankers to store the surplus supply and that has forced the price of US oil into negative territory.

NA to procure medical supplies worth over Rs 2.25 billion from China

The Nepal Army (NA) will be importing medical supplies worth over Rs 2.25 billion from China. NA Spokesperson Bigyan Dev Pandey said that the national army on Sunday signed an agreement to procure medical supplies worth US$ 18,441,706.

The medical supplies weighing 342 tons will be brought on multiple stages with the first lot arriving within seven days.
