Construction of Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium halted amid COVID-19 fear

CHITWAN: The Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation has decided to stall the ongoing construction of the Rampur-based Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Chitwan amid the growing fear of an outbreak of the coronavirus.

The Foundation said the works have been suspended until the situation returns to normal.

It has decided to stop the work temporarily following the government’s advice not to assemble more than 25 people in view of the global pandemic of the virus.

Over 200 workers have been hired for the construction of the project.

Chairperson of the Foundation Sitaram Kattel said people’s health has been his top priority.

The project was signed between the Bharatpur Metropolitan City and the Foundation on January 30 this year.
