Westerly low pressure system’s impact to last longer

KATHMANDU: The influence of the Westerly low-pressure wind which was stable in the country for two days will possibly last longer.

Meteorologist Shanti Kandel said it was likely that the Westerly low-pressure system that entered Nepal will remain for one or two days more, looking at its nature. It will take some more days for the weather to fully improve.

However, the weather activities would be changing in the coming days as there is a situation of pre-monsoon besides the new weather system in Nepal, Kandel added.

According to her, although the weather will look clear towards the morning, it will be cloudy with chances of brief rain with thunder towards the afternoon.

April and May are the pre-monsoon period in Nepal. The weather keeps on changing during this period.

At present, the weather is partly to generally cloudy in the eastern and central parts of the country due to the influence of the Westerly low-pressure system.

Light rain is taking place in the eastern hilly region. Although it will be cloudy in the central region including in Kathmandu, only intermittent rainfall will occur.

There is a possibility of light snowfall in the high mountainous region of the eastern part. The sky would be cloudy in the eastern parts during the night while the weather will be clear in the rest of the country.

The latest weather bulletin published by the Meteorological Forecasting Division showed rainfall occurred throughout the country in the last 24 hours.

Highest rainfall 51.9 millimeters occurred in Dadeldhura followed by 47.8 millimeters in Dipayal. Kathmandu received 6.4 millimeters of rain. Birendranagar received 12 millimeters of rainfall and Dang 11 millimeters.

The minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley was 8.8 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was 17.5 degrees Celsius.
