PM Oli claims to win 120 seats, 5 million votes in PR in upcoming general election

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party Chairman KP Oli has claimed that his party will win 120 seats in the first-past-the-post and over 5 million votes in the proportional representation (PR) in the upcoming general election.

PM Oli said that the party will bring a clear two-thirds majority in the upcoming elections. He also instructed the central members to prepare for the elections accordingly.

Addressing a meeting of Oli-faction central members at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday, Oli said no force could stop the election.

“The country is moving towards election. No force can stop the elections now. We will use all our strength in the election,” Khimlal Bhattarai, a central member and member of the National Assembly said quoting Oli at the meeting.

In the last election, the NCP had won 116 seats in first-past-the-post system. The NCP had 57 lawmakers in the PR system.

Chairman Oli claimed that the party would bring better results in the upcoming elections than in the past.

A meeting of the Oli-faction Central Committee has also decided to hold the party’s unity general convention from November 20. The responsibility of the spokesperson has been given to Standing Committee member Pradip Gyawali.
