Kathmandu Valley registers 647 new COVID-19 cases

KATHMANDU: As many as 647 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 511 persons in Kathmandu, 63 in Bhaktapur and 73 in Lalitpur have tested positive for COVID-19.

Similarly, a 50-year-old man from Kathmandu succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Likewise, a total of 1,356 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country in the past 24 hours.

The coronavirus tally has reached 66,632 with the fresh cases, Health Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said on Tuesday afternoon.

A total of 18,142 people are currently under isolation. Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 8,939 people are in home isolation and 9,193 in institutional isolation facilities.

According to Dr. Gautam, 823 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 48,061 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 72 percent, he added.
