KATHMANDU: A meeting of the cabinet is taking place at 9:30 am today.

Prime Minister KP Oli has called the meeting this morning to “discuss the extension of the Nepal Reconstruction Authority” (NRA), according to a cabinet minister.

It is widely speculated that the government is likely to extend the term of the NRA.

A steering committee meeting the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) had on Monday recommended to extend the tenure of the Authority by a year.

The17th committee meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Oli took the decision to recommend the Council of Ministers for the extension by a year.

NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali has stated that the committee decided to recommend for tenure extension in a way to complete the reconstruction of private houses and important structures including Dharahara which was adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
