Gunfight breaks out between security forces, militants in Kashmir



NEW DELHI: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Verinag forest of Kashmir’s Anantnag district this morning.

Indian media reports said a joint team of the army, police, and CRPF has launched a cordon and search-operation in the area after an input.

As soon as the team approached the spot, militants hiding in the area fired upon them.

Security forces retaliated triggering off an encounter.

A senior police officer has confirmed the exchange of fire between the security forces and the militants.
