MFD predicts floods, landslides in 41 districts

KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has predicted floods and landslides in the rivers and streams of 41 districts in the country.

With the heavy rain occurring due to monsoon, the water level in the Bagmati, Narayani, Pashchim Rapti, Babai and their tributaries are likely to go up, according to the MFD.

The rivers situated in the districts including Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Udayapur, Sindhuli, Makwanpur, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok, Kavre, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan including three districts of the Kathmandu Valley are likely to swell up due to monsoon rain.

Similarly, other districts which are prone to floods and landslides  include Gorkha, Tanahun, Kaski, Lamjung,  Syangja, Parbat, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Palpa, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Surkhet, Kailali.
