KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has concluded that the two ordinances regarding political parties and Constitutional Council recently introduced by the government are ‘inappropriate, unnecessary and against the spirit of the Constitution’.
Issuing a press release on Tuesday, RPP has argued that the ordinances will not only encourage the parties to split but also push the country towards instability, thereby putting the democracy in jeopardy.
Similarly, the ordinance on constitutional council undermines the separation of power and power balance – the fundamental values of democracy – which will ultimately promote an arbitrary administration in the country, reads the statement.
Meanwhile, the RPP has urged Nepal Community Party (NCP) and the government to withdraw the ordinances and abstain from doing activities that would invite anarchism and instability at a time when the country is hit by Coronavirus pandemic.
