Coronavirus death toll crosses 170, 300 globally with nearly 2.5 million infected

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 170, 370 after 5,339 people died in the last 24 hours as of Tuesday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 73, 116 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 2, 479,691.

Currently, 1,663,073 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 56, 763 are critical.

Meanwhile, 646,248 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 1,939 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 42,514 as of Tuesday morning.

With 28, 123 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 792,759 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 677,856 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 13, 951 is critical.  Meanwhile, 71,011 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 18, 929 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 4, 377 and 2, 468 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy, the second worst-hit country in terms of deaths, has witnessed 454 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 24,114 as of Tuesday morning.

With 2,256 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 181, 228 the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America.

Currently, 108, 237 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2,573 are critical. Meanwhile, 48,877 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has the second highest number of infection cases with 200, 210 after the United States of America (USA).

According to Worldometer, 1,536 people were infected and 399 died in a single day. A total of 20,852 people have died due to the novel virus as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 98,771 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 7,371 are critical.

Meanwhile, 80,587 have recovered after treatment.

The United Kingdom (UK) has reported 449 new deaths taking the total tally to 16,509 as of Tuesday morning.

With 4,676 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 124,743 according to Worldometer.

Currently, 107,890 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.

France has registered 19, 718 deaths after 395 died in a single day.

With 1,101 new cases, the total number of infection cases has surged to 152, 894 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 96, 598 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 5,744 are critical. Meanwhile, 36,578 have returned home after recovery.

India has registered 33 new deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total tally to 592 as of Tuesday morning.

According to Worldometer, with 924 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 18, 539.

Currently, 14, 674 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 3,273 have returned home after recovery. The India government has conducted tests on 401, 586 people for Coronavirus so far.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 170,370 and infecting 2,479,691 people as of Tuesday morning.
