Nepali workers forced to sign unpaid leave docs in Saudi Arabia
Several Nepali migrant workers in Saudi Arabia have been hoodwinked into signing an unpaid leave document.
Consulate General of Nepal in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stated that some companies have tricked Nepali migrant staffers into signing an unpaid leave document during the lockdown.
The government of Saudi Arabia has clearly stated that no companies can cut the salary of their staffers nor can they force them to take an unpaid leave.
Gokarneshwor Municipality feeding 750 destitute workers daily
The Gokarneshwor Municipality in the north-east of Kathmandu district has been providing free meals to 750 economically vulnerable workers daily.
Municipality spokesman Manoj Kumar Dhungana said they are feeding the needy people, most of them daily wage-earners, from the food grains and supplies collected from the donors.
The Municipality had distributed relief to the 10,500 workers and economically poor people in the second week of this month.
The Municipality started distributing free meals to the needy from the beginning of the third week of this month after the lockdown was extended and it became difficult to manage the relief distribution.
Free food for workers, pedestrians along Bhaktapur roadway
Various organizations in Bhaktapur district have set up free food camps to feed hungry workers and pedestrians in the wake of the exodus of people from Kathmandu to their districts for losing jobs.
Chairperson of district sports committee, Shreebhakta Kashichhawa, and other people provided food free of cost to over 150 pedestrians heading towards home from Kathmandu on Sunday.
Some 50 other people also received food at Gatthaghar. The proprietor of Nagarik Community Teaching Hospital, Kashichhawa said the pedestrians were provided food free of cost. Kiran Thapa, chairperson of Suryabinayak municipality-8 said pedestrians, workers, and poor ones are provided food freely.
He said that humanitarian organization, Shipadole Area Paropakar Samaj, and Humanitarian Values Nepal arranged the food to the needy ones who were going out of the Kathmandu Valley on foot.
33,562 samples tested for COVID-19 in Nepal so far
The Ministry of Health and Population has said it has intensified COVID-19 testing in Udayapur district which has the highest number of 13 coronavirus-infected patients.
Speaking at a regular press briefing on Monday, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Bikash Devkota said that swab samples of 152 persons have been collected from the district for a test through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method.
According to Spokesperson Dr. Devkota, a total of 33,562 tests have been performed across Nepal so far.
He said that 8,414 tests have been carried out through PCR and 25,148 through Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) method.
A total of 2,349 persons have been tested in Province 1; 3,238 in Province 2; 4,676 in Bagmati Province; 3,751 in Gandaki Province; 2,324 in Province 5; 3,232 in Karnali Province and 5,578 in Sudurpaschim Province.
