KATHMANDU: Nepal Army observed Army Day on Friday, coinciding Maha Shivaratri, a religious festival of Hindus at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel in Kathmandu.

Every year, the NA celebrates the day on the auspicious occasion of the Shivaratri festival reaffirming its devotion to the people and the nation, reflecting its organizational unity, ‘characterized by patriotism and military professionalism’.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Nepali Army, attended the ceremony.

Vice-president Nanda Kishor Pun, Prime Minister K P Oli, Speaker House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota, ministers, among others attended the program.

Nepal Army (NA) personnel displayed spectacular skills and arts including military drills, march-past, raid operations, and disaster rescue operations, among others.

They displayed equipment and armaments such as weapons, armored vehicles, and engineering and communication devices.

The cultural team of the NA performed special dances in traditional attires.

Likewise, they also displayed taekwondo, khukuri drill, shoot to kill and free fall jump with the use of parachutes.
