Khanal condemns indecent behavior on leader Pandey

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Jhalanath Khanal has demanded action against those involved in indecent behavior on Standing Committee member Surendra Pandey in Chitwan.

In a statement issued on Saturday evening, senior leader Khanal condemned the mistreatment of Pandey.

‘The indecent behavior and chanting of slogans by some anarchists who entered the program in an unauthorized manner are highly reprehensible. “I strongly condemn this irresponsible act,” Khanal said in a statement.

Khanal, who is also a former prime minister, urged all party leaders and cadres to be vigilant as such incidents would exacerbate the situation as internal disputes of the party were escalating and measures were being sought to resolve them.

Cadres close to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had mistreated leader Pandey at the ‘Meeting and Training’ program of the NCP Chitwan Rapti Municipal Committee on Saturday morning.

While Pandey was speaking at the program, a group of 15/20 people from outside the committee had entered the meeting hall and stopped Pandey from speaking by sloganeering.

They had accused leader Pandey of making a wrong statement against Prime Minister Oli and supporting a faction.
