President Bhandari inaugurates historical Ranipokhari (In pics)

KATHMANDU: The reconstruction of Ranipokhari has been complete five years after it was damaged by the 2015 mega earthquake.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the historical pond and the Balgopalewor Temple in it amid a special ceremony on Wednesday afternoon.

The historical pond has been decorated fully with installation of electric lamps. The heritage site has been reconstructed retaining its glorious art and beauty.

Earlier, President Bhandari had laid a foundation stone for the Ranipokhari reconstruction project on National Earthquake Day on January 16, 2016.

The temple formerly built in dome style has been reconstructed in the peak or granthkut style.

They claim the present reconstruction has revived the original style that was there before the massive earthquake of 1833.

The reconstruction has nearly taken 5 years for completion now.
