NHRC urges for judicious implementation of remittance of prison term

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the concerned authority to implement the Supreme Court’s order for remittance of a prison term of the prisoners without any prejudices.

In a press statement issued by NHRC’s secretary Bed Prasad Bhattarai, the human rights watchdog has requested the concerned sides to enforce the order of the highest court for remittance of prison term in line with the Prison Regulation-2020’s Rule no 29.

The NHRC has written to the Department of Prison Management regarding the human rights and health condition of the prisoners. The Commission has started field visits to the prisons across the country to monitor if the prisoners were availed of their rights to health or not.
