Dr KC’s health deteriorates as his protest enters 8th day

KATHMANDU: The health condition of senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC who is staging a hunger strike demanding reforms in the medical sector has deteriorated.

Dr KC’s body parts started showing problems due to hypoglycemia as his hunger strike entered the eighth day on Monday.

On Saturday, he was shifted to Karnali Academy of Health Sciences after his condition worsened.

He is now being treated on ventilator at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

“I will continue with my protest until the agreements reached between me and the government in the past are implemented,” his aide quoted Dr KC as saying.

He has been staging his fast-unto-death since September 14 in Jumla.
