Govt decides to resume regular flights from Sept 1 with preconditions

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to resume regular international flights from some countries from September 1 with some preconditions.

A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to allow one flight a day for Nepali citizens and diplomats and staff of foreign missions in Nepal, according to government Spokesperson Minister for Finance, Communications and Information Technology Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada.

Passengers from Malaysia, the UAE, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia, Europe and the United States will be allowed to come through such flights.

According to Minister Dr. Khatiwada, such passengers must bring a certificate of COVID-19 negative 72 hours prior to boarding the aircraft, barcode or print copy of the online form filled on the website of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center and stay at the hotel quarantine for at least seven days.

The meeting also decided to continue the rescue flights from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Malaysia, etc. for the rescue of the migrant workers.

All passengers arriving through the rescue flight with COVID-19 negative certificates will be allowed to go home with a written commitment to stay in the home quarantine for at least 14 days after the registration and health check-up and they will be monitored at the local level.
