Flood water from Kankai river displaces more than 100 households



JHAPA: As many as 100 households of Jhapa Rural Municipality have been displaced by the flood water that entered the residential areas breaking the embankment of Kankai river.

According to Jhapa Rural Municipality Mayor, Jaya Narayan Shah, around 80 families of Jhapa-1 Milanbasti and 20 families of Jhapa-2 Sadakbari have been displaced by the flood water caused by the incessant rain since Sunday.

Mayor Shah informed that the displaced are kept at the Situmari Primary School and Laxmi Primary School buildings of their locality.

After the flood water entered the settlement area, the inhabitants, their goods and the cattle have been shifted to the schools of their convenient locality.

Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Red Cross Society members and locals are jointly working out the rescue and relief program in the area.
