NCP SC meeting taking place at 11 am today

KATHMANDU:  A Standing Committee (SC) meeting of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) which has been deadlocked for a long time is taking place today (Tuesday).

The SC meeting will take place at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar at 11 am today, Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa told Khabarhub.

However, it is still uncertain due to intra-party differences subsisting among the party leaders.

Dahal-Nepal camp has been demanding resignation of Prime Minister KP Oli from both of his posts while the latter is adamant not to resign from any of his posts.

The SC meeting which started since July 24 has been hit after the Prime Minister’s resignation was chosen as the main agenda of the meeting.

NCP chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister who held one-on-one meetings have not been able to reach consensus.

Both Oli and Dahal have intensified meetings with the leaders of their camp of late.

On July 18, Oli in the NCP Secretariat meeting had proposed to hold the general convention of the party in November.  The meeting will also discuss it today.
