46 out of 56 sluices opened in Saptakoshi River as water level rises



KATHMANDU: With the incessant downpour continuing since last Sunday, the water level in the Saptakoshi River has risen to the danger level.

As many as 46 out of 56 sluices have been kept open after the floods surged in the river on Tuesday morning.

The water current in the Saptakoshi River is 334,990 cusec per second as per the measurement taken at 6 am today.

The water current is considered dangerous when it reaches 200,000 cusec per second, according to the Koshi Barrage Control Room.

Meanwhile, Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has cautioned people living along the bank of the Saptakoshi River warning that floods might occur in Sunsari and Saptari districts.
