COVID-19 cases surpass 1,000 in Sudurpaschim Province



DHANGADHI: The number of COVID-19 cases have surpassed 1,000 in Sudurpachim Province with 76 new confirmed cases on Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, as many as 33 swabs from Sudurpaschim Province have tested positive for coronavirus  at the Teku based National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL).

The test performed at NPHL detected positive for the virus of 16 people, including 2 females from Doti, 3 males from Kailali, and 3 females and 11 males from Dadeldhura district.

Similarly, 43 swabs tested at the Regional Animal Disease Investigation Laboratory Dhangadhi came out positive.

With this, the number of COVID-19 cases in Sudurpaschim climbed to 76 on Sunday alone totaling 1,024 in the province.

Kailali has the maximum number of infections with 261 cases while 186 cases have reported in Dadeldhura, 154 in Doti, 100 in Kanchanpur, 76 in Achham, 72 in Bajura, 21 in Bajhang and 12 in Darchula district.

Five people have died from COVID-19 in the province so far.

Meanwhile, 134 have been discharged after recovery in the province.
