KATHMANDU: A meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the Federal Parliament is being held on Sunday to finalize the Citizenship Bill.

In the meeting to be held at 2 pm, the lawmakers have claimed that the Citizenship Bill, which has been under discussions for two years, will be finalized today.

Earlier, a Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) had decided to grant naturalized citizenship to a foreign woman marrying a Nepali national five years after renunciation of the citizenship of the country.

The committee will make a decision accordingly. However, the Nepali Congress and Madhesi parties have been insisting on the continuation of provisions in the Citizenship Act, 2063 BS.
