Death toll of Nepalis abroad due to coronavirus reaches 130



KATHMANDU: Three more Nepalis living abroad have died due to coronavirus in the past week.

The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) said three Nepalis currently living in Qatar died in the past week.

With this, the number of Nepalis losing their lives to coronavirus abroad has reached 130.

According to NRNA Health Committee Coordinator Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota, more than 10,000 Nepalis in foreign lands have recovered so far.

Nepalis living in 18 countries including Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, Malta, Japan, Myanmar, Poland, Russia, New Zealand, Canada, Finland, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, France, Belgium, Hong Kong and South Korea have recovered from coronavirus.

Dr. Sapkota said that four Nepalis living in African countries have been infected with the coronavirus past week.

Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 26,402 Nepalis in 35 countries around the world, including 8,605 in Nepal.

So far, Nepalis living in 13 countries including the UK, the US, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Ireland, Japan, Turkey, Netherlands and Sweden have died due to coronavirus infection, said coordinator Sapkota.
