NCP Secretariat meeting concludes, PM Oli calls on Prez Bhandari

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has reached Sheetal Niwas, the President’s Office, on Monday night following a conclusion of a Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

NCP Spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha remained mum after journalists asked him why the prime minister has reached the President’s Office to meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Spokesperson Shrestha said the meeting discussed efforts being made to contain coronavirus and decisions made by the government.

Shrestha added that the Prime Minister told the meeting that the ordinances were necessary as appointments to constitutional bodies have not been made for long.

Earlier today, a meeting of Council of Ministers had forwarded the ordinances related to Constitutional Council and Political Party before the President.

President Bhandari has issued both the ordinances.

Fresh debates have surfaced within the party after an amendment has been made to the Act related to Political Party so that a new party can be split with at least 40 percent of members of Parliamentary Party or Central Committee.
