33,562 samples tested for COVID-19 in Nepal so far



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has said it has intensified COVID-19 testing in Udayapur district which has the highest number of 13 coronavirus-infected patients.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Monday, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Bikash Devkota said that swab samples of 152 persons have been collected from the district for a test through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method.

According to Spokesperson Dr. Devkota, a total of 33,562 tests have been performed across Nepal so far. He said that 8,414 tests have been carried out through PCR and 25,148 through Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) method.

A total of 2,349 persons have been tested in Province 1; 3,238 in Province 2; 4,676 in Bagmati Province; 3,751 in Gandaki Province; 2,324 in Province 5; 3,232 in Karnali Province and 5,578 in Sudurpaschim Province.

Spokesperson Dr. Devkota said that currently 5,936 people have been quarantined and 111 COVID-19 suspects have been put in isolation across the country.

Nepal has currently 27 active COVID-19 cases with four recoveries.
