110 Russian nationals evacuated from Nepal

KATHMANDU: A total of 110 Russian nationals have been evacuated from Nepal on Monday.

A chartered plane of Royal Fly (Boeing-757) which landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu at around 10:30 am today flew to Moscow on Monday afternoon, Raj Kumar Chhetri, Spokesperson at the Civil Aviation Authority said.

Even though it was learned that a total of 143 nationals would be evacuated from Nepal, only 110 were taken back.

The Russian Embassy in Kathmandu evacuated the Russian nationals who were stranded in different parts of Nepal due to the current lockdown imposed by the Nepal government to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus.

This is, perhaps, the first time that a Russian plane is making a direct flight from Kathmandu to Moscow, Russian capital.
