Coronavirus death toll crosses 165,229 globally with over 2.4 million infected

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 165,229 after 4,883 people died in the last 24 hours as of Monday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 74, 557 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 2, 405,325.

Currently, 1,615,484 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 54, 225 are critical.

Meanwhile, 624,911 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 1,518 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 40,532 as of Monday morning.

With 25, 261 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 764,053 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 652,520 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 13, 566 is critical. Meanwhile, 71,011 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 18, 298 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 4, 202 and 2, 391 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy, the second worst-hit country in terms of deaths, has witnessed 433 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 23,660 as of Monday morning.

With 3,047 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 178, 972 the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America.

Currently, 108, 257 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2,635 are critical. Meanwhile, 47,055 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has the second highest number of infection cases with 198, 674 after the United States of America (USA).

According to Worldometer, 4,258 people were infected and 410 died in a single day. A total of 20,453 people have died due to the novel virus as of Monday morning.

Currently, 100,864 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 7,371 are critical.

Meanwhile, 77,357 have recovered after treatment.

The United Kingdom (UK) has reported 596 new deaths taking the total tally to 16,060 as of Monday morning.

With 5,850 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 120,067 according to Worldometer.

Currently, 103,663 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.

France has registered 19, 718 deaths after 395 died in a single day.

With 1,101 new cases, the total number of infection cases has surged to 152, 894 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 96, 598 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 5,744 are critical. Meanwhile, 36,578 have returned home after recovery.

India has registered 38 new deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total tally to 559 as of Monday morning.

According to Worldometer, with 1,250 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 17,615.

Currently, 14, 202 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 2, 854 have returned home after recovery. The India government has conducted tests on 401, 586 people for Coronavirus so far.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 164,930 and infecting 2,405, 325 people as of Monday morning.
