Six Nepali killed in road accident in India



BENGALURU: Six Nepali, including two women, have been killed in a road accident near Omalur on the Salem- Bengaluru National Highway Thursday morning.

Over 18 injured are undergoing treatment at a government hospital.

According to Indian police, a group of Nepali pilgrims traveling towards Bengaluru after offering prayers at Kanniyakumari had planned to take rest near a temple in Naripallam by parking their minibus nearby when a private bus coming from Bengaluru crashed into the minibus they were traveling.

Three of the deceased have been identified as Gopal Tamang, 56, who was brought dead to the hospital, Fhitasari Chaudhary, 55, and 60-year-old Bishnu Dahal.

Police have detained the drivers and are investigating.

According to Amarnath Choudri, a pilgrim, they were a group of 34 persons from Sunsari district on an India pilgrimage tour.

They came to India on February 6 for the 35-day tour.
