Seismic survey works continue in Dailekh



DAILEKH: A seismic survey is going on in Dailekh to find out the petroleum reserve and its storage capacity in parts of the district.

The survey will determine the volume of petroleum products and the storage capacity of areas having its reserves, explorer at Department of Mines and Geology, Dr Ganeshnath Tripathi said.

Drilling works carried out up to 45 feet deep in several locations have been completed.

Currently, works are going on to create artificial tremors by supplying explosive devices into small holes made through drilling.

Tripathi said that the survey is underway covering 200 kilometers of area in 10 seismic lines adding that the plan is to complete the survey by mid-February.
