Plastic rice ‘found’ in Parbat

PARBAT: Plastic rice is suspected to have been sold at a shop in Kushama Municipality-5 in the district.

The sale of artificial rice was suspected after it was found in the cooked rice in the house of Prem Jaisi Lamichhane, a local.

Lamichhane family members suspected plastic in the rice after a ball of rice they cooked bounced like a cricket ball when banged on the floor and took unusually a long time to cook.

“It took a long time to cook and it bounced like a cricket ball when banged on the floor,” said Lamichhane.

Lamichhane, few days earlier, had procured the rice from Umananda Kirana Stores operated by local trader Lekhnath Sharma.
