Three writ petitions filed at SC against Parliament dissolution

KATHMANDU: Three writ petitions have been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) against the government’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR).

Advocates Lokendra Bahadur Wali, Kanchan Krishna Neupane, and Sulabh Kharel have filed the writ petition on Sunday.

The writ petitions have not been registered yet due to some “technicalities”.

The decision of the government and the authentication of President Bidhya Devi Bhandari to dissolve the HoR has been widely criticized.

Cases can be filed at the SC to reject the cabinet’s recommendation to dissolve the parliament. In such instance, a single judge can hear the case.
