Province 2 confirms 132 fresh COVID-19 cases



JANAKPURDHAM: Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 132 more people in Province 2 in the last 24 hours.

A total of 132 people, including 22 women and 110 men, have been confirmed to have the infection in the tests conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Janakpur and Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital, Birgunj, said Bijay Jha, Acting Director, Directorate of Health, Province 2.

The highest number of 65 cases has been confirmed in Bara district of the state on Saturday. Similarly, the infection has been confirmed in six people in Parsa, two in Dhanusha and 13 in Sarlahi.

A total of 94 people in the province returned home after recovering from the infection.

On Saturday, 83 men and 11 women returned home after recovering. With the recoveries, the number of people
recovering in this province has reached 7,010. Of them, 802 are women and 6,208 are men.

Meanwhile, the province recorded a coronavirus related death.

The deceased has been identified as a 55-year-old man of Haripur Municipality-9 in Sarlahi. The number of deaths from the coronavirus in the province has reached 116. So far, 97 men and 19 women have lost their lives due to the infection, said Director Jha.

At least 40 people have died in Parsa so far from COVID-19.

Similarly, 17 people died in Bara, 15 in Dhanusha, 13 in Mahottari, 11 in Siraha, nine in Saptari, five each in Rautahat and Sarlahi and one Indian national have succumbed to the pandemic so far.
