NCP Secretariat meeting underway



KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party is holding its secretariat meeting on Saturday.

The meeting which began at 9 am is discussing the preparation of the Standing Committee meeting scheduled for June 24 and 25 and Civizenship Bill which is sub-judice in the parliamentary committee.

Similarly, the meeting will also dwell on American grant assistance MCC, according to Surya Thapa, Press Advisor to the Prime Minister and Deputy Chief of Central Publicity Department of NCP.

Leaders are divided over the naturalized citizenship issue under the Nepal Citizenship Act-2063 Amendment Bill.

Main opposition Nepali Congress has been advocating for the existing provision while the ruling NCP is reiterating that there should be at least a seven-year time-limit for a foreinger to acquire a naturalized citizenship.
