Legislation Committee endorses Special Service Bill



KATHMANDU: The parliamentary Legislation Committee approved the ‘Bill Designed to Amend and Integrate the Nepal Special Service Formation and Operation’ on Thursday.

Committee Chairperson Parshuram Meghi Gurung informed that today’s meeting of the committee endorsed the bill with an amendment.

The bill proposes a 60 year retirement time bar to special service employees.

The bill has been designed by the government to strengthen its intelligence capabilities to counter threats to national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity among other issues.

It has also proposed to control acts of secession, espionage, sabotage, and subversion and protect national sovereignty, national integrity, and communal harmony.
