Police, criminal exchange fire; fugitive murder-accused held



RAUTAHAT: Police arrested former leader of Janatantrik Mukti Morcha Kameshwor Patel Kurmi for his involvement in various crimes including murder.

Kurmi was taken under control after opening fire on him from Chandrapur Municipality-4 at 11 pm on Tuesday, District Police Office, Rautahat said.

Patel has sustained injuries to his left leg. Injured Kurmi has been taken to Chandrapur Hospital for treatment, added police.

Police said they opened fire in retaliation after Kurmi opened fire on them.

Meanwhile, police have seized a pistol and five rounds of its bullets. Over a dozen murder cases have been filed against Kurmi. He was absconding since then.
