KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s Advisor Lalbabu Yadav has said that efforts were carried out to drag the president unnecessarily into controversies.

At an interaction program organized by Reporters’ Club on Saturday, Yadav argued that trying to drag the president into controversies over the recent issue of the ordinance was against the essence of the Constitution.

The president authenticated the ordinance as per the constitutional provision to accept the recommendation from the Council of Ministers.

“The president is an undisputed institution,” he said. Yadav further said that the claim on the president’s disapproval to register the application of the 83 lawmakers to summon the special session of the parliament was untrue.

Also speaking at the same event, Nepali Congress leader and former minister Ramesh Lekhak argued that the ordinance was against the democratic system adding that the government brought the ordinance despite the NC’s urge not to take that move.

Stating that there was no comment on the president regarding the authentication of the ordinance, Lekhak added that the Office of the President should be conscious of the issues associated with the president.

Similarly, Nepal Communist Party leader and former minister Som Prasad Pandey said that there was no such intense debate in the ruling NCP as portrayed in the social networking sites. Pandey argued that the intraparty feud was heading to the resolution.
