Darchula transits with India open for easing migration of local community

DARCHULA: Sitapul transit with India in the district remained open in view of the migration of the local Byasi Sauka community from India to Nepal.

The transit opened on Wednesday for two days in view of the migration of the community from India to the district headquarters, Khalanga, said the local level.

Likewise, for the travelling community, a bridge connecting Darchula-Dharchula will remain open on November 23 and December 9 and Sitapul will re-open on December 4.

The community has been using Indian routes to descend to Khalanga as Nepal lacks usable roads linking to the town. On Wednesday alone, 60 families of Chharung descended to Kunja-Khalanga from India.

They used Sitapul transit, said Ashok Singh Bohra, ward chair of Byas rural municipality-1.
