Kathmandu Valley records 711 new COVID-19 cases, five deaths



KATHMANDU: As many as 711 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 570 persons in Kathmandu, 83 in Lalitpur and 58 in Lalitpur have been tested positive for the pandemic virus.

Similarly, five persons have died due to virus in the Kathmandu Valley today.

A 76-year-old woman, a 68-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man died of COVID-19 in Lalitpur, while a 77-year-old man and a 75-year-old man in Kathmandu succumbed to the virus.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,204 people have been diagnosed coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours.

The coronavirus tally has reached 62,797 with the fresh cases, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said on Saturday afternoon.

He added that the new cases were detected when 10,333 samples were tested in laboratories across the country.

Nepal has carried out 904,706 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests so far.

A total of 17,129 people are currently under isolation. Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 7,947 people are in home isolation and 9,153 in institutional isolation facilities.

Likewise, 7,735 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

According to Dr. Gautam, 1,447 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 45,267 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 72 percent, he added.
