Nepal’s COVID-19 toll hits 401 with 11 more deaths



KATHMANDU: A total of 11 more COVID-19 patients, including five in Kathmandu Valley, died in the last 24 hours.

Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population stated that the death toll from the pandemic has reached 401 with the new fatalities.

Four men and seven women succumbed to the coronavirus, according to the Ministry.

Women aged 65 years in Morang, 51 years in Rautahat, 56 years in Sarlahi, 76 and 68 years in Lalitpur, 77 years in Kathmandu and 37 years in Makwanpur died of the coronavirus.

Likewise, men aged 60 years in Lalitpur, 75 years in Kathmandu, 69 years in Rupandehi and 45 years in Banke succumbed to the coronavirus.

Earlier on Friday, Nepal had recorded eight deaths from the pandemic.

Two men aged 66 years died in Morang, an 88-year-old man in Katmandu, an 82-year-old man in Bhaktapur and a 31-year-old man in Nawalparasi had died of the coronavirus.

Likewise, an 85-year-old woman in Kathmandu and a 66-year-old woman in Lalitpur had succumbed to the pandemic.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,204 people have been diagnosed coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours, according to Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population.

The coronavirus tally has reached 62,797 with the fresh cases, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said on Saturday afternoon.

He added that the new cases were detected when 10,333 samples were tested in laboratories across the country. Nepal has carried out 904,706 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests so far.
