KATHMANDU: The sanitation workers working inside the Singhdurbar are compulsorily required to undergo COVID-19 tests.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Jageshwor Gautam informed at a regular press briefing on Sunday that preparations are underway to ensure COVID-19 tests of the cleaning staff at Singhadurbar.

He said that the sample collection would be started immediately adding that as many as 45,000 people are being tested to ascertain the status of the infection at the community level.

Dr. Gautam said that Nepalis coming from abroad will be taken directly to the holding centers before sending them to their respective provinces. They will be sent to their provinces only after the PCR test report comes out.

In addition, people entering Nepal from through land routes will be tested first and sent to the quarantine in the concerned district.

He said that the number of tests has decreased in recent times due to the low number of people at risk.
