Nepal and BRI Cooperation countries discuss battle against COVID-19

KATHMANDU: Foreign Ministers of the countries in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Cooperation have discussed the need to enhance solidarity and mutual cooperation in the battle against COVID-19 pandemic spreading worldwide.

According to Foreign Ministry sources, Foreign Ministers of the countries who have consented the BRI cooperation held a virtual meeting to discuss the coronavirus pandemic and the solidarity and mutual cooperation in the fight against the pandemic spreading globally.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs confirmed that Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali took part in the high-level video conference coordinated by China.

The theme of the conference was ‘strengthening the Belt and Road international cooperation and jointly fighting COVID-19.’

Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of China had represented China in the conference attended by 26 nations’ representatives, World Health Organisation (WHO) message Chief, and UNDP high officials.

The conference which received Chinese President Xi Jinping’s message discussed interdependence upon each other agreed to enhance the supply of health materials and other help among the BRI Cooperation nations.
