Number of COVID-19 infected Nepalis climbs to 331 in Bahrain



KATHMANDU: The number of Nepali migrant workers infected with coronavirus in Bahrain has reached 331.

The Nepali Embassy in Manama said 331 Nepalis in Bahrain have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Bahrain government authorities informed Nepali Ambassador to Bahrain, Padam Sundas that the Nepali migrant workers will be shifted to a safer places where health workers will treat them.

According to the Embassy, the Bahrain government has made a new arrangement to take care of the migrant workers, including Nepalis.

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has announced to grant amnesty to the undocumented Nepali migrant workers in the country from April 7 to December 31, 2020 — either to be legally registered or to leave the country.

Likewise, the Nepali Embassy has also asked Nepalis in Bahrain to contact the Embassy.

So far, Bahrain has witnessed a total of 6,74 coronavirus cases. Twelve people have died so far in Bahrain.
