Marijuana smuggling in ambulance: District Attorney not to file case against Mayor Mehta

RAUTAHAT: A case against Mayor of Ishantah Municipality Santosh Mehta for drug smuggling will not be filed ‘for lack of evidence’.

District Attorney General Khadindra Katuwal said the District Attorney Office decided not to file the case against Mayor Mehta and his brother accused of smuggling marijuana in an ambulance in lack of evidence.

Police on January 26 had confiscated around 30.6 kg of marijuana being carried inside the ambulance— Ba 2 Jha 1749— in Makawanpur district.

Police had arrested Ashok Kumar of Dumariya, ambulance driver Mohammed Khalid and an Indian national Binod Sahani of Motihari district of India.

An arrest warrant was issued against Mayor Mehta in the case.
