NA conducts rehearsal to respond COVID-19

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) has carried out a rehearsal for containing the risk of infection of coronavirus, precautionary measures and treatment methods.

The rehearsal conducted at the NA headquarters in Bhadrakali featured the arrival of ‘suspected’ patient, medical checkup procedures, isolation ward, and quarantine proceedings and medical facilities while in quarantine.

The demo hospital, quarantine home isolation ward was set up with the help of tents.

The rehearsal aims to make people and NA subordinate bodies aware through media of treatment methods and methodologies in hospital and in quarantine, preventive measures against the disease and the measures to be taken by medical persons to stay safe from the infection while treating patients, said NA Spokesperson Bigyan Dev Pandey.

Over 60 tents were used for the demo. A 181- member medical team including 50 doctors were involved in the rehearsal.

Information about proper hand-washing techniques, preventive measures for doctors and health workers while measuring the temperature of the patient was delivered through the rehearsal.

The NA headquarters and its subordinate bodies have already begun the process of measuring the body temperature of its staffers and distributing sanitizer to them before entering offices as precautionary measures against the COVID-19 which now poses a global threat.

However, no one was found infected so far by the virus within the country.
